Wi-Fi Security Loading...
Not securing your Wi-Fi connection is the equivalent of leaving the front door of your house wide open. Without adequate protection, wireless intruders can eavesdrop on any information you transmit "through the air".
Upgrade to JiWire Hotspot Helper to keep your personal information safe at public hotspots, at work, or even at home.
Network Name Loading...
The network name, or SSID, is broadcast by the access point to which you are currently connected. Did you intend to connect to this network? If not, disconnect immediately and use your connection manager to select the correct network.

Hackers create "Evil Twin" networks, which have the same SSID as public hotspot access points, and often have fake sign-in screens that capture your personal information for nefarious purposes.
If you are at a public hotspot and you encounter multiple networks with the same SSID, try both but only sign in to the one with a secure sign-in screen. Look for the lock icon and a Web address that begins with "https" in your web browser. Never enter personal information into a non-secure page and always be sure to use Wi-Fi security such as JiWire Hotspot Helper.
Signal Strength Loading...
The signal strength is an indicator of how close your computer is to the wireless access point you're using.
If you are encountering a weak signal at a public hotspot, try reorienting your laptop or move closer to the access point. If you are having signal problems with your home wireless network, consult JiWire’s product reviews and how-to guides for products and tips to extend the range and signal strength of your network.
Wi-Fi Channel #
Wi-Fi access points can be configured to broadcast their signals on different channels. In this instance, channel (#) is used by the wireless network to which you are connected. 802.11b/g networks use channels 1-14, 802.11a networks use channels 40-64.
If you are having problems connecting to your home access point in an area crowded with other wireless networks, set your access point to another channel.
IP Address 0.0.0.0
An IP Address is the unique identifier assigned to your computer by the wireless network's router.
If you’re having problems connecting to a Wi-Fi network at home or at the office, ensure that your IP address is unique from other computers on the network.
Router MAC Address 00:00:00:00:00:00
The router MAC address is the identifying address of the Wi-Fi router you’re connected to.
If you are having problems connecting to a wireless network at a remote office or friend's home, chances are their access point has been set to restrict access to a limited number of MAC addresses. If that's the case, you'll need to add your computer's MAC address to the router's list of allowed devices.
Wi-Fi Adapter Loading...
The Wi-Fi Adapter the wireless card and driver software your computer uses to connect to Wi-Fi signals.
Many Wi-Fi router brands require you to install their proprietary Wi-Fi adapters in order to take advantage of advanced features such as security. JiWire Hotspot Helper provides quick and easy security with most Wi-Fi adapters.
