Slipping and Sliding

The mylo's slide-out QWERTY keyboard is where you'll be doing all that chatting, so we were glad to find a very usable layout and keys with a firm response. The top row of keys may be a little to close to the case, but we were able to type quickly. The five-way navigator and four widely-spaced function keys (Home, Info, Option and Back) make it easy to get around the simple software structure, which is based on Linux.

Black or White

The mylo comes in two color combinations, black with a silver keyboard, and white with orange. The shiny plastic smudges easily, but seems to hold up well against scratching. A neoprene slipcase is included in the box.

Making Connections

The front of the mylo [top picture] has a convenient jog control for music playback, so you don't need to fiddle around on the screen. At bottom right, there are volume control and Hold buttons. Power turns on by sliding a switch set into the edge of the case.

The back of the mylo [bottom picture] features the USB, headphone and power connectors, as well as another sliding switch that turns the Wi-Fi radio on and off. The Memory Stick Pro Duo slot is at bottom right.

Double-duty Headphones

The mylo's earbud headphones work for both audio playback and phone calls, with an integrated microphone and call control switch on the cord. You can also attach your own headphones into the jack instead. When a call comes in during music or video playback, the mylo pauses to let you answer, then resumes where it left off when your call is ended.

A Handy Fit

The mylo is very small and pocketable at only 5.3 ounces. It's really just big enough for a usable keyboard, and the 2.5-inch color LCD screen.
